Crane Hire

Our crane hire and lifting service provides on-site relocation, installation and decommissioning of equipment. We can offer a full lifting solution for your requirements with truck-mounted crane hire, saving you the customer the additional cost of hiring a mobile crane.

Slinger/Signaller

Standard Hire Lift Plans

The company hiring the crane must:

  • Carry out all works in accordance with BS 7121.

  • Supply the Appointed Person

  • Plan the lift and operate a safe system of work.

  • Ensure that the crane hired is of a suitable type and capacity.

  • Check the credentials of the crane hire company and the certification supplied.


The crane provider has a duty to:

  • Provide a crane that is properly maintained, tested and certified.

  • Provide a competent, certified operator.

Contract Hire Lift Plans

The company hiring the crane should specify:


• That all work is carried out in accordance with BS 7121.
• That the crane provider is to supply the Appointed Person.
• The Ground Bearing Capacity of the crane setup area.
• What other information and or services will be provided to the crane provider by the customer.
 

The contracted crane provider has a duty to:

  • Supply the Appointed Person

  • Plan the lift and operate a safe system of work.

  • Organise and control the lifting operation.

  • Provide a crane that is properly maintained, tested and certified.

  • Provide a competent, certified operator.

  • Ensure the Ground Bearing Capacity is not exceeded under outriggers during lifting operations.

Appointed Persons

The appointed person in lifting operations is responsible for the execution and safety of the lifting operation. This person can delegate tasks, but the sole responsibility for the safety of the lifting operation remains theirs. You may also see this person referred to as the competent person and The appointed person will also write up Gallen Crane and Truck Hire contract hire lift plans.
